Founder-led, builder-grade.
Hemstad Homes is a North Carolina–based consultancy founded by Philip Squires, built for builders who need senior-level construction expertise without adding to payroll.
Two gaps, one practice.
Hemstad Homes exists to close two gaps builders run into. First, smaller local and regional builders who want corporate-office-level expertise but can't justify a full-time hire at that level. Second, companies with a leadership gap — Philip steps in on a contract basis to do the job directly, or to help train the person who'll take it over.
Hemstad is Swedish for "hometown."
A deliberate alternative to the generic "hometown" branding used across the industry — the same idea, grounded and specific instead of borrowed.
Track record
24+ years across every scale of homebuilding — custom, regional, and national.
| No. | Company | Track record |
|---|---|---|
| 01 | Washington, DC Local Custom Homebuilder | Foundational field experience in custom homebuilding. |
| 02 | Raleigh, NC Local Production Homebuilder | Joined in 2006 as a superintendent overseeing field activities for two upper-end communities, then joined purchasing, working his way up to divisional vice president, while growing the company from 120 to 300+ homes a year through 2017, including the housing downturn, ahead of its acquisition by a top 20 national homebuilder. |
| 03 | Top 20 National Homebuilder | Continued in the same purchasing leadership role through the acquisition and integration, then served the final five years as Corporate Vice President, Sustainability & Procurement — 20 years total with the company, responsible for construction, purchasing, and sustainability across 4,000+ homes per year in the corporate role. |
Solo-led, team-embedded.
Hemstad Homes is Philip working solo — but every engagement requires the builder's own team to be fully engaged alongside him. It's not a report handed off from the outside; it's expertise built into how your team already operates.
The ideal fit: established production homebuilders — national, regional, or local — looking to streamline their organization, not startups building their first plan.
